Description

Tricia’s Fantastic Fudge Pie is a rich and gooey chocolate dessert made with semisweet chocolate chips, butter, and a flaky pie crust. This indulgent treat is perfect for chocolate lovers, with a fudgy center and optional crunchy walnuts. Serve it warm with ice cream for the ultimate decadent experience!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Melt the Chocolate and Butter:

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butter.
  2. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth.

Prepare the Sugar and Egg Mixture:

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine Mixtures:

  1. Gradually stir the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture.

Add Dry Ingredients:

  1. Stir in the flour and salt, mixing until just incorporated.
  2. Fold in the chopped walnuts, if using.

Assemble the Pie:

  1. Pour the batter into the unbaked pie crust and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake:

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center remains slightly soft.

Cool and Serve:

  1. Allow the pie to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
  2. Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.

Notes

  • For an extra fudgy texture, slightly underbake the pie and let it firm up while cooling.
  • Swap walnuts for pecans or omit them for a nut-free version.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
