- 4 large croissants
- 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour (188g)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Croissants
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the croissants in half horizontally and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Cookie Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- Gradually mix in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Step 3: Assemble the Cookie Croissants
- Spread about 3 tablespoons of cookie dough onto the cut surface of each croissant half.
- Close the croissant to form a sandwich and press additional cookie dough onto the top surface, flattening it slightly.
Step 4: Bake the Croissants
- Place the stuffed croissants on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12–14 minutes, or until the cookie dough on top is golden brown.
- Let the croissants cool for 5–10 minutes before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm for the ultimate gooey treat!
Notes
- Half-Baked Centers: The cookie dough in the center will remain molten and gooey, just like the original bakery-inspired version. Adjust bake time if you prefer a more fully baked center.
- Storage: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2–3 days. Reheat in an air fryer or oven to restore crispiness and warmth.
- Make-Ahead Option: Assemble the croissants and refrigerate or freeze them until ready to bake. Add a few extra minutes of bake time when baking from frozen.
