- 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread, halved lengthwise
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 4–6 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese or shredded mozzarella
- Optional: 1 tbsp olive oil for brushing the edges
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment.
- In a small bowl, mix butter, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Spread garlic butter mixture evenly over each bread half.
- Sprinkle with cheese. For extra richness, brush edges with olive oil.
- Place on baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden and bubbling.
- Optional: Broil for 1–2 minutes to crisp the top (watch closely!).
- Slice and serve hot.
