Instructions

  • Bake the Cake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round pans (plus an optional 6-inch round or cupcake for the snout). Beat butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Mix dry ingredients and alternate adding with milk. Bake for 30–35 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Prepare Frosting: Beat butter until fluffy. Add powdered sugar gradually, then milk and vanilla. Tint portions light brown, dark brown, and leave some white or tan for accents.
  • Assemble the Cake: Stack layers with frosting in between. Frost entire cake in base brown. Attach optional cupcake or smaller round as the snout.
  • Decorate:
  • Use star or grass tip to pipe fur in varying shades of brown.
  • Add fondant or piped eyes, nose, and smiling mouth.
  • Use small fondant circles or piped accents for paws and ears.
  • Add a fondant heart or mini fondant arms reaching out in a “hug.”
