Description

Swirled Cinnamon and Sugar Muffins are light, fluffy, and packed with warm cinnamon flavor. These homemade muffins feature a marbled cinnamon sugar swirl that makes them as beautiful as they are delicious. Perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it with butter.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, combine milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon to create the cinnamon swirl mixture.
  • Fill each muffin cup halfway with batter. Sprinkle about a teaspoon of the cinnamon sugar mixture on top of the batter. Add another layer of batter to cover the cinnamon sugar.
  • Using a toothpick, gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter to create a marbled effect.
  • Bake the muffins for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes. Transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For added sweetness, sprinkle a touch of cinnamon sugar on top of the muffins before baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Warm in the microwave for a fresh-out-of-the-oven taste.
  • For a glaze, mix powdered sugar with a bit of milk and drizzle it over cooled muffins.
