Description

A sweet and tangy homemade strawberry jam made with fresh strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Perfect for spreading on toast or using in desserts.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Place the strawberries in a large saucepan and mash them slightly with a potato masher to release some juices.
  2. Add the sugar and lemon juice to the saucepan and stir to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently.
  4. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 20–25 minutes, continuing to stir often, until the jam thickens.
  5. To test doneness, place a small amount of jam on a cold plate and run your finger through it. If it holds its shape, it’s ready.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  7. Transfer the jam to sterilized jars and seal tightly. Let cool completely before refrigerating.

Notes

  • Use ripe, fresh strawberries for the best flavor.
  • Jam will thicken further as it cools.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or freeze for longer storage.
