- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers (or 4 hibiscus tea bags)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2–4 tablespoons honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves and strawberry slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
- Remove from heat, add hibiscus flowers or tea bags, and steep for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, place strawberries in a blender and purée until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve if desired for a smoother texture.
- After steeping, strain the hibiscus tea and let it cool slightly.
- In a pitcher, combine the hibiscus tea, strawberry purée, sweetener, and lemon juice. Stir well.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill.
- Serve over ice with optional mint and strawberry garnish.
Notes
- For a sparkling version, replace half the water with chilled sparkling water just before serving.
- Use frozen strawberries if fresh aren’t available.
- Hibiscus tea can stain; use caution when handling.
