Description

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries

Instructions

  • Prepare oven and pan: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 10×15-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  • Mix eggs and sugar: In a large bowl, beat eggs, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
  • Combine dry ingredients: Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gently fold this mixture into the egg batter until smooth.
  • Bake the cake: Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cake springs back when touched.
  • Roll the cake: Sprinkle powdered sugar on the warm cake and invert it onto a clean kitchen towel. Roll the cake with the towel (starting from a short end) and let it cool completely.
  • Fill with cream and strawberries: Unroll the cooled cake, spread whipped cream over the surface, and layer with sliced strawberries.
  • Roll and chill: Gently roll the cake back up (without the towel). Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Serve and enjoy: Slice the cake and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a smoother roll, ensure the cake is warm when rolling initially.
  • Add a drizzle of chocolate sauce or extra strawberries for garnish if desired.
