Description

Savor this comforting and creamy stovetop ground beef pasta! A quick and easy dinner with seasoned ground beef in a rich tomato cream sauce, perfect for weeknights.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3/4 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 8 oz uncooked pasta
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 sweet yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Freshly grated parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, following the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the base:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  3. Cook the beef:
    • Add the ground beef and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for about 8 minutes, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  4. Make the sauce:
    • Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Dijon mustard, and Italian seasoning. Let the sauce simmer for 4-5 minutes to reduce slightly.
  5. Add cream:
    • Stir in the heavy cream and let it cook for 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
  6. Combine and season:
    • Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce until evenly coated. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve:
    • Top with freshly grated parmesan cheese if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use your favorite pasta shape for this dish—penne, rigatoni, or spaghetti all work well.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a hint of spice.
