Description

Transform your green beans into a sensational side dish with this Stovetop Crack Green Beans with Parmesan recipe. Tender-crisp green beans are coated in a buttery, garlicky Parmesan crust for a dish that’s quick, easy, and utterly addictive!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, ends trimmed
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (sandy texture recommended)
  • 1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Green Beans:

  • Wash and trim green beans. Pat them dry thoroughly to remove excess moisture.

2. Sauté the Green Beans:

  • Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add green beans, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Stir to coat.
  • Cover and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender-crisp.

3. Make the Parmesan Crust:

  • Remove the lid and push green beans to one side of the skillet.
  • Add minced garlic, Panko breadcrumbs, and half of the Parmesan to the empty side.
  • Cook, stirring frequently, for 2–3 minutes, until the breadcrumbs and Parmesan turn golden and crispy.

4. Combine and Finish:

  • Mix the crispy Parmesan mixture with the green beans until evenly coated.
  • Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan on top and let it melt slightly for an extra cheesy finish.

5. Serve:

  • Transfer green beans to a serving dish. Garnish with red pepper flakes if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Add Bacon: Cook crispy bacon in the skillet before adding the green beans.
  • Herbal Twist: Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley.
  • Nutty Crunch: Sprinkle toasted almonds or walnuts on top.
  • Extra Cheesy: Mix in shredded mozzarella or Gruyère for extra gooeyness.
