Description

A delicious twist on the classic Italian pasta dish, this Smoked Salmon Carbonara combines creamy eggs, cheese, and smoked salmon for a rich and savory meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 oz smoked salmon, chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water and drain the rest.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add chopped smoked salmon and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, Parmesan cheese, and heavy cream. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and add the drained pasta. Quickly pour the egg mixture over the pasta and toss well to combine, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time to reach desired creaminess.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor.
  • Do not return the pan to heat after adding the eggs to avoid scrambling.
  • Add peas or spinach for extra color and nutrition.
