- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup sesame seeds (toasted if desired)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
- Stir in the sesame seeds.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and place on the prepared baking sheet. Flatten slightly.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra flavor, lightly toast the sesame seeds before adding them to the dough.
- You can substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour for a nuttier taste.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
