Description

Crunchy and nutty sesame cookies with a rich, toasty flavor, perfect for tea time or a light dessert.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds (toasted if desired)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  6. Stir in the sesame seeds.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and place on the prepared baking sheet. Flatten slightly.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, lightly toast the sesame seeds before adding them to the dough.
  • You can substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour for a nuttier taste.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
