- 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- For the filling:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1/2 cup grated parmesan or mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk, water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy
- Add flour, salt, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms
- Knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled
- Meanwhile, mix the filling: combine melted butter, garlic, rosemary, and salt
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll into a large rectangle (~12×16 inches)
- Brush with the rosemary garlic butter and sprinkle with cheese if using
- Cut into squares or strips, stack, and layer vertically into a greased loaf pan
- Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through
- Cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm!
Notes
- You can use dried rosemary if fresh isn’t available, but reduce the amount
- Add chili flakes or a touch of lemon zest for a twist
