Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 bag large marshmallows (about 40 marshmallows)
- 6 cups Rice Krispies
- Red & yellow liquid food coloring
- Mini Rolos (for stems)
- Green M&M’s (for leaves)
- 1/4 cup cooking oil or melted butter (for hand-coating)
Instructions
- Melt the Butter and Marshmallows:
- In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows and stir until fully melted and smooth.
- Color the Mixture:
- Remove from heat. Mix in yellow food coloring, then gradually add red until you achieve a pumpkin-like orange hue (approximately 4 drops red to 12 drops yellow).
- Combine with Rice Krispies:
- Stir the Rice Krispies into the melted marshmallow mixture until evenly coated.
- Shape the Pumpkins:
- Coat your hands generously with cooking oil or melted butter. Roll the mixture into small balls and place them on parchment paper. Reapply oil/butter as needed.
- Decorate:
- While warm, press a Mini Rolo into the top of each ball as a stem and add a green M&M as a leaf. If the mixture cools too quickly, make an indent with a marker or apple corer for the decorations to sit securely.
- Cool and Serve:
- Let the pumpkins cool until firm.
Notes
- Use food coloring to create the perfect pumpkin-orange hue.
- Coat your hands with oil or butter to easily shape the mixture into balls.
- Decorate with Mini Rolos and green M&M’s for a cute pumpkin finish.
