Description

Puerto Rican Chocolate Coquito is a creamy, decadent holiday drink made with coconut milk, cream of coconut, and melted chocolate. Infused with cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla, this festive beverage is a perfect treat for Christmas or holiday gatherings!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (15 oz) cream of coconut (e.g., Coco López)
  • 1 can (13.5 oz) coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips (melted)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, melt the chocolate chips until smooth. Stir to remove any lumps and let it cool slightly.
  2. Blend the Base:
    • In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, cream of coconut, coconut milk, and melted chocolate. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the Spices:
    • Add ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Blend again until all ingredients are fully combined.
  4. Chill:
    • Transfer the mixture to a pitcher or an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together.
  5. Serve:
    • Shake or stir the coquito before serving. Pour into small glasses or mugs. Garnish with whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, and a cinnamon stick for an extra festive touch.

Notes

  • Storage: Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Shake or stir well before serving.
  • Optional Add-ins: For an adult version, add 1–2 cups of rum to the mixture during blending.
  • Variations: Use white chocolate chips for a different twist or sprinkle cocoa powder on top before serving.
