- 12 oz pasta (penne or fettuccine)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, sauté until fragrant and soft, about 3-4 minutes.
- Pour in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Mix well until the sauce becomes a pink color.
- Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and combined. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
- You can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter version.
- Add grilled chicken, shrimp, or vegetables for a protein boost.
