- 1 tbsp vegetable oil, divided use
- 1 red bell pepper, cored, seeded, and cut into strips
- 1 green bell pepper, cored, seeded, and cut into strips
- 1 1/4 lbs flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp minced ginger
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
Cook the Peppers:
- Heat 1 tsp of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
- Add red and green bell peppers. Cook for 3-4 minutes until just tender.
- Remove peppers from the pan and set aside on a plate.
2. Cook the Steak:
- Add the remaining oil to the pan and increase heat to high.
- Season flank steak with salt and pepper.
- Add steak to the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned.
3. Add Aromatics:
- Stir in garlic and ginger. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
4. Combine Ingredients:
- Return the cooked peppers to the pan with the steak.
5. Make the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, water, and cornstarch.
- Pour the sauce over the steak and peppers.
6. Simmer:
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
7. Serve:
- Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

- For extra flavor, add a splash of sesame oil to the sauce.
- Substitute flank steak with sirloin or skirt steak if preferred.
