Description

This Pepper Steak Stir Fry is a quick, easy, and flavorful dish made with tender flank steak, colorful bell peppers, and a savory sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, this recipe delivers restaurant-quality flavors in just 30 minutes!


Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil, divided use
  • 1 red bell pepper, cored, seeded, and cut into strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, cored, seeded, and cut into strips
  • 1 1/4 lbs flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

Cook the Peppers:

  • Heat 1 tsp of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add red and green bell peppers. Cook for 3-4 minutes until just tender.
  • Remove peppers from the pan and set aside on a plate.

2. Cook the Steak:

  • Add the remaining oil to the pan and increase heat to high.
  • Season flank steak with salt and pepper.
  • Add steak to the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned.

3. Add Aromatics:

  • Stir in garlic and ginger. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

4. Combine Ingredients:

  • Return the cooked peppers to the pan with the steak.

5. Make the Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, water, and cornstarch.
  • Pour the sauce over the steak and peppers.

6. Simmer:

  • Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.

7. Serve:

  • Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of sesame oil to the sauce.
  • Substitute flank steak with sirloin or skirt steak if preferred.
  • Add mushrooms, onions, or snap peas for more veggies.
