Description

Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles combine savory ground beef, tender noodles, and a rich, flavorful Mongolian-inspired sauce. This easy, one-pan recipe is a perfect weeknight dinner idea that’s better than takeout!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 10 oz linguine
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta:
    • In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the linguine according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Cook the Beef:
    • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Add Aromatics:
    • Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Prepare the Sauce:
    • Stir in soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, ground ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Thicken the Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water until dissolved. Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Cook until the sauce thickens.
  • Combine with Noodles:
    • Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss until fully coated in the sauce. Let the noodles sit for 2-3 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  • Garnish and Serve:
    • Sprinkle sliced green onions on top before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Browning the beef well enhances its flavor.
  • Adjust the spice level with red pepper flakes to suit your taste.
  • For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or chicken.
