Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp matcha powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup custard (prepared or homemade)

  2. In another bowl, beat eggs, then add milk and melted butter.
  3. Combine wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil, frying doughnuts until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Drain doughnuts on paper towels and let cool slightly.
  7. Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  8. Fill a piping bag with custard and pipe into the center of each doughnut.

Notes
