- Blue gel food coloring
- Buttercream frosting (see notes)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare three 8-inch cake pans by greasing and lining with parchment.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until smooth.
- Add blue food coloring to desired shade and mix evenly.
- Divide batter between pans and bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Frost cooled layers with buttercream, smoothing sides and top.
- Add fondant “It’s a Boy” letters and baby-themed toppers. Optional: Apply gold leaf accents for extra elegance.
Notes
- For frosting: Use classic American or Swiss meringue buttercream. Tint with a small amount of blue gel food coloring.
- Chill cake before applying fondant letters or gold leaf for clean application.
- Letters can be made ahead and dried for easier placement.
