Description

This German Chocolate Poke Cake is an irresistibly moist and decadent dessert, infused with sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce, then topped with chocolate chips, coconut, pecans, and a rich chocolate-caramel frosting. It’s the perfect easy dessert for parties, holidays, or anytime you crave chocolatey indulgence!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the package)
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup chocolate frosting
  • 1/2 cup caramel frosting

Instructions

Step 1: Bake the Cake

  1. Prepare the cake according to the package instructions in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Once baked, let the cake cool for about 10 minutes.

Step 2: Poke & Fill

  1. Use the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake.
  2. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, letting it soak in.
  3. Drizzle caramel sauce over the top, allowing it to seep into the holes.

Step 3: Add Toppings

  1. Sprinkle chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans evenly over the cake.

Step 4: Frost & Serve

  1. In a small bowl, mix chocolate and caramel frosting together. Warm slightly if needed for easy spreading.
  2. Spread frosting over the cake, covering the toppings.
  3. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld.

Notes

  • For extra richness, drizzle additional caramel sauce on top before serving.
  • Make it nut-free by omitting the pecans.
  • For a homemade touch, swap the store-bought frosting for homemade chocolate ganache or caramel buttercream.
