Ingredients
Scale
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Melt the Butter
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat.
- Cook the Garlic
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the garlic is fragrant and just starts to turn golden.
- Add Herbs and Spices
- Stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for another 30 seconds to 1 minute, stirring constantly, to release the flavors of the herbs.
- Season the Sauce
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
- Cool and Use
- Let the garlic sauce cool slightly before using as a sauce for your pizza. It can also be drizzled over crusts or served as a dipping sauce for breadsticks.
Notes
- For a creamier version, stir in 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese before removing the sauce from heat.
- Adjust the spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently before using.
