Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Bolognese Sauce:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Garlic Butter Spaghetti:

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for garnish)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Spaghetti

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Cook the spaghetti until al dente according to package instructions.
  3. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.

Step 2: Make the Bolognese Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant and translucent.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning as needed.

Step 3: Prepare Garlic Butter Sauce

  1. In a separate pan, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Stir in heavy cream and simmer until slightly thickened. Add Parmesan cheese, stirring until smooth.
  3. Toss the cooked spaghetti in the garlic butter sauce. Add reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.

Step 4: Assemble the Dish

  1. Divide the garlic butter spaghetti among serving plates.
  2. Top with the hearty beef Bolognese sauce.
  3. Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley.

Notes

  • Customize the Spice Level: Adjust the red pepper flakes to suit your preference.
  • Creamier Sauce: Add a splash more heavy cream for extra richness.
  • Leftovers: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to preserve flavors.
