Description

Savor the hearty flavors of Garbage Bread, a quick and easy meal featuring a crispy golden crust filled with seasoned ground beef, melty cheeses, and colorful veggies. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or party treat!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 thin crust pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup sliced bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook Filling: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sauté onions until translucent. Add ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks. Stir in garlic, bell peppers, olives (if using), Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until well combined.
  • Prepare Dough: Roll pizza dough on a floured surface into a 10×14-inch rectangle.
  • Assemble: Spread the beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top.
  • Roll and Seal: Roll up the dough tightly, pinch the ends to seal, and place seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Add Steam Slits: Make small slits on top of the bread to allow steam to escape.
  • Egg Wash and Bake: Beat the egg and brush it over the bread. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  • Serve: Let rest for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Customize the filling by adding mushrooms, spinach, or even bacon bits.
  • Serve with marinara or ranch dressing for dipping.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat in the oven for best results.
