Description

A simple and crispy fried tofu recipe that’s perfect as a snack, side dish, or protein addition to meals. It’s golden on the outside and tender on the inside.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 14 oz (400g) firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Drain the tofu and press it for at least 15 minutes to remove excess water.
  2. Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes or slices as desired.
  3. In a bowl, toss tofu with soy sauce, salt, and pepper.
  4. Sprinkle cornstarch over the tofu and toss again to coat evenly.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry the tofu pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with dipping sauce or add to your favorite dish.

Notes

  • Pressing the tofu is essential to achieve crispiness.
  • Firm or extra-firm tofu works best for frying.
  • For a spicier flavor, add chili flakes or hot sauce to the marinade.
