Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Knead into a smooth dough.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle.
- Brush with vegetable oil and sprinkle evenly with chopped scallions.
- Roll the dough into a log and cut into equal pieces.
- Flatten each piece slightly into a bun shape.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry buns until golden and crispy on both sides.
- Optionally sprinkle with sesame seeds while still hot. Serve warm.
