- 2 1/2 cups chopped onions (about 2 small onions)

Instructions
1. Prepare the Batter:
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the milk, stirring to form a thick batter.
2. Add the Onions:
- Fold the chopped onions into the batter until well combined.
3. Heat the Oil:
- In a skillet, heat 1/2 inch of oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
4. Cook the Patties:
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil.
