Description

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornmeal
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 cups chopped onions (about 2 small onions)
  • Shortening or oil for frying

Instructions

1. Prepare the Batter:

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the milk, stirring to form a thick batter.

2. Add the Onions:

  • Fold the chopped onions into the batter until well combined.

3. Heat the Oil:

  • In a skillet, heat 1/2 inch of oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

4. Cook the Patties:

  • Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil.
  • Flatten each patty slightly with the back of a spatula.
