Description

This Easy Ground Beef Stroganoff is a hearty and comforting dish made with tender egg noodles, rich creamy sauce, and flavorful ground beef. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner that the whole family will love!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 oz egg noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

Instructions

1️⃣ Boil the Noodles:

  1. Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions.
  2. Drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Brown the Ground Beef:

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the ground beef until fully browned.
  2. Drain any excess fat and set the beef aside.

3️⃣ Make the Roux:

  1. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, to form a smooth paste (about 1 minute).

4️⃣ Whisk in the Broth:

  • Gradually pour in the beef broth, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.

5️⃣ Add the Milk:

  • Slowly stir in the milk, whisking until the sauce is smooth and creamy.

6️⃣ Season the Sauce:

  1. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

7️⃣ Combine Everything:

  1. Return the ground beef to the skillet and stir to coat in the sauce.
  2. Add the cooked noodles and mix until evenly combined.

8️⃣ Finish with Sour Cream:

  • Off the heat, stir in the sour cream for a rich and creamy finish.

Notes

  • Beef Substitution: Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Add Veggies: Toss in sautéed mushrooms or peas for extra texture and flavor.
  • Thicker Sauce: Simmer the sauce longer to thicken it, or add more flour to the roux.
