- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped
- 2 tablespoons white sugar (for apples)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for apples)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together 2/3 cup sugar and butter until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, mixing until just combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan. Layer half of the chopped apples on top. Sprinkle with half of the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture.
- Pour the remaining batter over the apple layer. Top with remaining apples and brown sugar-cinnamon mixture. Lightly press into the batter.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar and 1-2 tablespoons milk until smooth. Drizzle over cooled bread.
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced flavor.
- Ensure the bread is fully cooled before glazing to prevent melting.
- Bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
