Description

Slow-cooked Italian meatballs simmered in marinara sauce and served on toasted sub rolls with melted cheese—perfect for a hearty and easy meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 (24 oz) bag frozen Italian meatballs
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 6 sub rolls
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place frozen meatballs in the crockpot.
  2. Pour marinara sauce over the meatballs.
  3. Add Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to combine.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until meatballs are heated through.
  5. Preheat the oven broiler during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
  6. Slice sub rolls and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Spoon meatballs and sauce into each roll and top with mozzarella cheese.
  8. Broil for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use homemade meatballs if preferred.
  • Try with provolone or a cheese blend for variety.
  • Toast rolls slightly before adding meatballs for added crunch.
