Description

Savor the taste of Italy with this easy Classic Italian Meatballs recipe. Made with ground beef, Parmesan cheese, and seasonings, these baked meatballs are perfect for a hearty dinner or meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Meatballs:

  • 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2/3 cup milk (any type)
  • 1 lb. ground beef (or preferred meat)
  • 1/4 medium onion, finely chopped or grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano-Reggiano recommended)
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried parsley)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat.

Step 2: Prepare the Breadcrumb Mixture

  1. In a large bowl, mix the seasoned breadcrumbs and milk. Let the mixture soak for at least 5 minutes.

Step 3: Combine Ingredients

  1. Add the ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, Parmesan cheese, and parsley to the soaked breadcrumbs.
  2. Gently mix with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatballs tender.

Step 4: Shape the Meatballs

  1. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to portion the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Wet your hands with water and roll each portion into 2-inch meatballs.

Step 5: Bake the Meatballs

  1. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the meatballs reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  2. Remove from the oven and drain any excess fat.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Serve the meatballs with marinara sauce, pasta, or in a sub sandwich. Enjoy your homemade Italian comfort food!

Notes

  • Extra Juiciness: Mix in 1–2 tablespoons of ricotta cheese for added moisture.
  • Meat Mixture: Use a combination of ground beef, pork, and veal for traditional Italian flavors.
  • Meal Prep: Freeze cooked meatballs in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
