Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Bread:

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk

For the Apple Mixture:

  • 2 large apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk

Instructions

 Prepare the Batter

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream together granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, until the batter is smooth.

2. Make the Apple Mixture

  • Toss the chopped apples with granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl until evenly coated.

3. Assemble and Bake

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Add a layer of the apple mixture, then sprinkle half of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture on top.
  • Add the remaining batter, followed by the rest of the apple mixture and cinnamon sugar swirl.
  • Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the layers together for a marbled effect.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the bread cool completely in the pan.

4. Glaze and Serve

  • In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced flavor.
  • Ensure the bread is completely cool before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for later.
