For the Apple Mixture:
- 2 large apples, peeled and chopped
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
Prepare the Batter
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, until the batter is smooth.
2. Make the Apple Mixture
- Toss the chopped apples with granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl until evenly coated.
3. Assemble and Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
- Add a layer of the apple mixture, then sprinkle half of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture on top.
- Add the remaining batter, followed by the rest of the apple mixture and cinnamon sugar swirl.
- Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the layers together for a marbled effect.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the bread cool completely in the pan.
4. Glaze and Serve
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced flavor.
- Ensure the bread is completely cool before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for later.
