Ingredients

  • For the Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 2/3 cup warm milk
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • For the Filling
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and yeast.
  • Add warm milk and vegetable oil, and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  • Cover the dough and let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • In a small bowl, mix chocolate chips and butter for the filling.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and flatten each piece.
  • Place some chocolate filling in the center of each piece.
  • Wrap the dough around the filling and pinch to seal.
  • Place the buns on parchment squares and let them rest for 15 minutes.
  • Steam the buns over boiling water for 10–12 minutes.
  • Remove from steamer and cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can add a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder to the filling for an extra flavor boost.
