- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and halved
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into 6 equal rectangles or squares.
- Place the pastry pieces on the baking sheet and score a ½-inch border around each piece with a knife, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- In a bowl, mix cherries with honey or maple syrup and set aside.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash (egg beaten with water).
- Spoon cherry mixture into the center of each pastry square, staying within the scored border.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed.
- Remove from oven and drizzle with balsamic glaze.
- Sprinkle with chopped fresh basil and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use frozen cherries if fresh are not available; thaw and drain before use.
- Goat cheese or ricotta can be added for a savory twist.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
