Description
A decadent twist on the classic Italian dessert, Cherry Amaretto Tiramisu combines layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers with a creamy mascarpone filling, sweet cherries, and a splash of almond-flavored liqueur.

- 1 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
- 1/4 cup Amaretto liqueur
- 1/2 cup cherry preserves or cherry compote
- 1 cup pitted cherries (fresh or thawed if frozen)
- 1 package (7 oz) ladyfinger biscuits (Savoiardi)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 8 oz mascarpone cheese
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings or curls (optional)
Instructions
- In a shallow bowl, combine the espresso and Amaretto liqueur. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- In another bowl, beat mascarpone cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until combined.
- Dip each ladyfinger quickly into the espresso-Amaretto mixture and arrange a layer in the bottom of a dish or trifle bowl.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Spread half of the cherry preserves and scatter half of the cherries over the top.
- Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers, mascarpone mixture, preserves, and cherries.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
- Before serving, dust with cocoa powder and top with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
Notes
- Use fresh cherries when in season for best flavor.
- Can substitute cherry preserves with cherry pie filling or compote.
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit Amaretto and add 1/2 tsp almond extract to coffee.
- Let it chill overnight for optimal flavor and texture.
