For the Dough:
- 3 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent roll sheets
For the Filling:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon chives, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 3 cups (339 g) mild cheddar cheese, shredded (divided)
For the Garlic Butter:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chives, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick spray.
- Roll each crescent roll sheet into a 12×16-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface. If using perforated dough, pinch seams to seal.
Step 2: Make the Filling
- In a medium bowl, mix softened butter with chives and minced garlic.
- Spread about ⅓ of the garlic butter mixture onto one rolled-out sheet of dough. Evenly sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the buttered dough.
Step 3: Roll and Cut
- Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
- Cut the log in half crosswise, then slice each half lengthwise to create 4 sections. Repeat with the other sheets, yielding 12 sections total.
Step 4: Form the Cruffins
- Roll each section into a cinnamon-roll shape with the layered side facing outward, tucking the ends neatly.
- Place each rolled cruffin into the prepared muffin tin.
Step 5: Bake
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed up.
Step 6: Make the Garlic Butter
- In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, garlic, chives, and kosher salt.
Step 7: Finish
- Brush the warm cruffins with the garlic butter immediately after removing them from the oven. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Substitute mozzarella or Parmesan for a flavor variation.
- Ensure the crescent roll seams are well sealed to keep the filling intact during baking.
- Cruffins are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes.
