Ingredients

Units Scale

Meat:

  • 2 large hot dog buns
  • 4 cooked hot dogs
  • 1/4 cup pepperoni

Produce:

  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Condiments:

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce

Baking & Spices:

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Dairy:

  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven or Toaster Oven:
    • Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Garlic Butter:
    • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Spread the mixture evenly on the inside and outside of the hot dog buns.
  3. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • Open the hot dog buns and spread 2 tbsp of pizza sauce on the inside of each. Add two cooked hot dogs to each bun, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the hot dogs. Top with pepperoni slices and Parmesan cheese.
  4. Bake:

  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Remove the sandwiches from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping if desired.

Notes

  • Use spicy pepperoni or add a pinch of crushed red pepper for extra heat.
  • Substitute turkey hot dogs or plant-based hot dogs for a healthier or vegetarian option.
  • For added crunch, sprinkle the buns with garlic breadcrumbs before baking.
