Description

A simple and elegant Italian salad showcasing the freshest ingredients—ripe tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, aromatic basil, and a hint of olive oil and balsamic glaze. Perfect for summer gatherings or as a quick, healthy dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs ripe tomatoes (34 medium), sliced 1/4” thick
  • 1216 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced 1/4” thick
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves (approx. 1/3 cup)
  • 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste
  • 2 Tbsp balsamic glaze, or added to taste (optional)

Instructions

  • Layer the Ingredients: Arrange tomato slices on a serving platter. Alternate and tuck mozzarella slices between each tomato slice, ensuring both are visible. Add basil leaves between the layers.
  • Season and Drizzle: Sprinkle the salad with sea salt and black pepper. Drizzle generously with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze (if using).
  • Serve: Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use high-quality fresh mozzarella and tomatoes for the most authentic taste.
  • Add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt or freshly cracked pepper for a gourmet touch.
  • Balsamic glaze is optional but adds a sweet and tangy kick to the salad.
  • This dish is best served fresh and not stored for long.
