  • 1 tablespoon butterfly pea flowers (or 1 butterfly pea tea bag)
  • 12 tablespoons honey or simple syrup (to taste)
  • 3/4 cup milk (dairy or plant-based like almond or coconut milk)
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional garnish: dried flowers, mint leaves

Instructions

  • Bring the water to a boil and steep butterfly pea flowers for 5–7 minutes until deep blue in color.
  • Strain out the flowers (or remove the tea bag) and stir in honey or simple syrup while the tea is still warm.
  • Let the tea cool to room temperature, then chill in the fridge.
  • Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the cooled blue tea halfway up the glass.
  • Slowly pour milk over the tea for a beautiful layered effect.
  • Stir gently before drinking and enjoy!

Notes

  • The drink will change color if you add a splash of lemon juice — it turns purple!
