- 4 large egg yolks

- 8 oz mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (cold)

- 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional, e.g., Kahlúa or Marsala wine)
- 24–30 ladyfinger cookies (Savoiardi)
- For Topping:
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 oz dark chocolate (shaved, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Mascarpone Cream:
- In a heatproof bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar.
- Place over a saucepan with simmering water (double boiler method) and whisk continuously for 5 minutes until thick and pale. Remove from heat.
- Let cool slightly, then whisk in mascarpone cheese until smooth.
- Whip the Cream:
- In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks.
- Gently fold whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
- Soak the Ladyfingers:
- Mix brewed espresso with coffee liqueur (if using).
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture (do not soak too long or they’ll become mushy).
- Assemble the Tiramisu:
- Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in a 9×9-inch dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
- Chill & Serve:
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight) to allow flavors to meld.
- Before serving, dust with cocoa powder and garnish with shaved chocolate if desired.
