Description

This Classic Italian Tiramisu is the ultimate no-bake dessert featuring layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, a rich and creamy mascarpone filling, and a dusting of cocoa powder. Light yet indulgent, this authentic recipe is perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the Mascarpone Cream:
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (cold)
  • For the Ladyfinger Layers:
  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed espresso (cooled)
  • 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional, e.g., Kahlúa or Marsala wine)
  • 2430 ladyfinger cookies (Savoiardi)
  • For Topping:
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 oz dark chocolate (shaved, optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Mascarpone Cream:
  • In a heatproof bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar.
  • Place over a saucepan with simmering water (double boiler method) and whisk continuously for 5 minutes until thick and pale. Remove from heat.
  • Let cool slightly, then whisk in mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  • Whip the Cream:
  • In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks.
  • Gently fold whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
  • Soak the Ladyfingers:
  • Mix brewed espresso with coffee liqueur (if using).
  • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture (do not soak too long or they’ll become mushy).
  • Assemble the Tiramisu:
  • Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in a 9×9-inch dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
  • Chill & Serve:
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight) to allow flavors to meld.
  • Before serving, dust with cocoa powder and garnish with shaved chocolate if desired.

Notes

  • Use high-quality espresso for the best flavor.
  • Tiramisu tastes even better when chilled overnight.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur.
