Units Scale

For the Steak:

  • 1 lb steak (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp ginger powder

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup onions, diced
  • 1/8 cup garlic, diced
  • 1/8 cup ginger, diced
  • 16 oz noodles (spaghetti or lo mein noodles)
  • 16 oz broccoli, florets

For the Sauce:

  • 3/4 cup dark soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1/2 cup honey (or brown sugar)
  • 1/2 cup oyster sauce
  • 1/8 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp browning (optional, for color)

For the Cornstarch Slurry:

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Noodles:

  • Cook noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.

2️⃣ Make the Sauce:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, and rice vinegar.
  2. In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly whisk the slurry into the sauce mixture until smooth. Set aside.

3️⃣ Season the Beef:

  • In a bowl, toss the sliced steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, rice wine vinegar, and ginger powder. Let marinate while you prepare the other ingredients.

4️⃣ Cook the Beef:

  1. Heat sesame oil in a hot wok or large skillet over high heat.
  2. Add the beef and sear until cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from the wok and set aside.

5️⃣ Stir-Fry the Vegetables:

  1. In the same wok, sauté onions, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  2. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until crisp-tender.

6️⃣ Combine Noodles and Sauce:

  1. Add the cooked noodles to the wok with the vegetables.
  2. Gradually pour in the sauce, tossing to coat evenly.

7️⃣ Add Beef and Finish:

  • Return the cooked beef to the wok and stir to combine all ingredients. Cook for another 2–3 minutes to heat through.

8️⃣ Serve:

  • Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped scallions if desired.

Notes

  • Noodles: Use fresh lo mein noodles for an authentic texture or substitute with spaghetti.
  • Protein Variations: Swap beef for chicken, shrimp, or tofu for variety.
  • Vegetables: Add carrots, snap peas, or bell peppers for extra color and flavor.
  • Sauce Tip: Adjust sweetness and saltiness to taste by altering honey and soy sauce amounts.
