- 4 ripe bananas
- 1 1/2 cups dark or milk chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
- Assorted toppings (crushed nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut, etc.)
- 8 popsicle sticks
Instructions
- Peel the bananas and cut each one in half crosswise to make 8 pieces.
- Insert a popsicle stick into each banana half and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Freeze the bananas for at least 1 hour or until firm.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with coconut oil (if using) in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth.
- Dip each frozen banana into the melted chocolate, turning to coat evenly. Let excess chocolate drip off.
- Quickly sprinkle with your choice of toppings before the chocolate sets.
- Place the dipped bananas back on the parchment-lined sheet and freeze for another 30 minutes or until the chocolate is set.
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the freezer.
Notes
- You can use white chocolate or peanut butter chips for variation.
- Let the bananas freeze long enough to hold their shape when dipped.
- Best consumed within a week for optimal freshness.
