Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 fresh lasagna sheets (or pre-cooked)
  • 200g (7 oz) ham, thinly sliced
  • 200g (7 oz) mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 50g (1.7 oz) Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cups béchamel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Butter, for greasing
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • If using dry lasagna sheets, boil them according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and pat dry.
  • Lay each lasagna sheet flat. Place a layer of ham and mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Roll each sheet into a cylinder and then cut in half to create two shorter rolls (“roses”).
  • Spread a thin layer of béchamel sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
  • Place the pasta roses upright in the dish, spiral side up, close together.
  • Pour the remaining béchamel sauce over the roses. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute the ham with cooked bacon or smoked turkey.
  • Add a few spinach leaves inside each roll for a fresh twist.
  • Fresh lasagna sheets work best for easy rolling, but cooked dry sheets can be used too.
