- Pinch of sea salt or pink Himalayan salt
For the Toast:
- 2 slices of bread (preferably sourdough)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Mushrooms
- Prepare Mushrooms: Wash and slice the mushrooms.
- Sauté Garlic: Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add crushed garlic and sauté for 1 minute, stirring to prevent burning.
- Cook Mushrooms: Add sliced mushrooms, tamari sauce, and cook for 8–10 minutes until the water from the mushrooms evaporates.
- Season: Stir in fresh thyme and a sprinkle of black pepper. Remove from heat.
Step 2: Prepare the Avocado
- Mash Avocado: In a small bowl, mash the avocado with a fork.
- Season: Mix in lemon juice and a pinch of salt.
Step 3: Assemble the Toast
- Toast Bread: Toast the bread slices until golden and crispy.
- Layer Toppings: Spread a thick layer of mashed avocado on each slice, then top with the garlicky mushrooms.
- Serve: Enjoy immediately while warm and fresh.
Notes
- Customization: Add a sprinkle of chili flakes or a drizzle of balsamic glaze for extra flavor.
- Bread Alternatives: Use gluten-free bread for a gluten-free option, or swap sourdough with whole-grain bread for added fiber.
- Meal Prep: Make the mushrooms ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat before assembling the toast.
