- 4–8 oz canned tomato sauce (adjust based on preference)
- 2 cups water
- 1 tsp minced garlic (about 2 cloves)
- 2 tsp Caldo de Tomate (tomato bouillon)
- 1 tsp chili powder
Instructions
1. Toast the Rice:
- Heat oil in a 3-quart sauté pan over medium heat.
- Add the rice and stir to coat in the oil.
- Cook, stirring frequently, for 3-5 minutes until the rice turns golden.
2. Add Spices:
- Stir in chili powder, Caldo de Tomate, and minced garlic until evenly combined.
3. Combine Liquids:
- Pour in water and tomato sauce, stirring to mix thoroughly.
4. Simmer the Rice:
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pan.
- Simmer for 20 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed.
5. Rest and Fluff:
- Turn off the heat and let the rice rest, covered, for 5-10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
