- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 cups water
- 1–2 slices fresh ginger (optional)
- 1 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 1 tsp black or green tea leaves (optional, for a caffeinated version)
- Lemon wedge or star anise for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a small pot, combine apple slices, cinnamon stick, and water. Add ginger if using.
- Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
- If using tea leaves, add them during the last 2–3 minutes of simmering.
- Strain the tea into a mug.
- Stir in honey or maple syrup to taste.
- Garnish with a lemon wedge or star anise and enjoy warm.
Notes
- For a stronger apple flavor, mash some of the simmered apple slices before straining.
- Great as an iced tea too – just chill and pour over ice.
- Add cloves or nutmeg for a spicier version.
